Liam was finally born Saturday, June 16th at 11:23 pm! He was almost a Father’s Day baby. He was 8 lbs 2 oz and 22 & 1/4 inches long. My overall experience was absolutely amazing. I was so blessed to be in the hands of such wonderful doctors and nurses.
This was my first child, so I had no idea what to expect. Of course everyone gives your their little pieces of advice/stories but every situation is different and no experience is ever the same. That being said, I had the easiest, most wonderful experience ever. When I first went into labor, it was rough. . . I had only dilated to 3 cm and because I wasn’t having much change, they wouldn’t admit me at first. After about 5 hours, they stripped my membranes (this was the most pain I was in the entire time) and admitted me! I was absolutely exhausted at this point and the pain was getting unbearable. (Props to all you mommas that labor naturally! I don’t know how you do it but it was not for me!). My epidural was amazing and I didn’t feel any pain or discomfort with it at all. You feel pressure of some of the stronger contractions but it wasn’t painful at all for me. They literally had to wake me up to tell me it was time to push! Pushing was tiring, but I still was in no pain at all. My nurse, Caleb, my mom, and I all carried on casual conversation the entire time. It was the best experience ever. When Liam was halfway out, he reached out for my on my stomach and they told me to grab him and pull him the rest of the way! It was the sweetest moment of my life. I am so thankful to have given birth to such a healthy, happy little boy! Caleb and I are truly blessed!
XOXO,
Liv
