Wow, two months has flown by! I felt the same way with Liam, but with 2, it almost goes twice as fast. Haha. This time my recovery has definitely been a whole lot easier. I think just knowing what to expect helps A LOT- emotionally and physically. Physically after day 4, I really felt completely back to normal. Mentally, I still have my days but knowing that it is OKAY and COMPLETELY normal to have feelings and be HIGHLY emotional- in all emotions has really helped too.

Mental Wellness Postpartum
I have gotten a few DMs and chatted with a few of you about PPD (postpartum depression). I don’t necessarily feel like this is something I dealt with, with either boys. Of course I have my “baby blue” days where I feel my feelings hard, but I don’t think I would call it PPD. I reached out to a few of my friends/family that have dealt with PPD and I’m sharing things they said helped and of course things I do when I’m down in the dumps. Overall, just know that these feelings are normal and nothing to be ashamed of.
Things to help
- Take some you time- alone and apart from baby and spouse.
- Plan events or activities to look forward to (big or small)
- Journal about positive things going on- baby, family, career, etc.
- See a therapist
- Talk to your doctor about medication
- Vent to someone you trust
- Cry it out- me always with Liam- I always felt sooo much better just letting the feelings out,
Physical Wellness Postpartum
Taking it one step at a time and waiting until you’ve healed ( and been cleared by your doc) is so important. Don’t want to damage or injure yourself! I was NOT wanting to workout or move at all after Liam- I did walk occasionally but that was about it. There is no guilt in that at all. I soaked up every precious moment with him and my squishy body- and I loved it. This time around I was just in a better state mentally about the whole recovery process and was eager to get back in the gym!
I was 140 ish when I got pregnant with Beaux and was around 180 at delivery. Now I am down to 155! Breastfeeding definitely helps a ton. While I’ve been “working out” for about a month now, I really have only been active for the past week consistently. I’ve noticed small changes, but again it’s only been a few weeks! I think the hardest part is wanting it all to happen so fast and that’s just not the way it goes. I also notice that while the scale isn’t moving as fast as I want it to, my clothes are fitting better! The scale isn’t the end all, be all.
