Tip #1

When you’re trying on jeans, are they comfy?! This is my biggest mistake when buying jeans. I’ll try on a cute pair and I absolutely love them but they ARE TOO TIGHT or TOO STIFF etc. I ALWAYS regret buying jeans when I feel like this. If you can size up and they’re comfier do that! In some jeans I’m a 2, in some I’m more comfy in a 10. SIZES AREN’T all the same!!!!! Every year they get smaller (in some brands) so make sure you’re buying what feels good, not what number you’re used to!

Tip #2

Make sure they’re the right length. I’m also the world’s worst for this. If it comes in a short, and those fit you better go with that option. If you need longer, opt for the long. Sometimes you can even size up one size and the length fit is a little better- but only do this if the waistband still fits. Most jeans shrink in and not in length, so keep this in mind too- if you need it! But I almost never dry my jeans.

*** SHORT GIRL HACK***

Sometimes I have to buy a pair of jeans and they’re a little too long for my shoes or I just don’t want to do the “cuff” method. Another thing you can do is cuff them inside instead of outside. Same concept, you just don’t have to display the cuff ( I actually did this in the above picture and it’s SUPER easy)!

Tip #3

Look at the inseam (between the legs) and the “butt” of the jeans. If there is sagging or loose material, size down. If you size down and they’re too tight or still don’t fit, the fit may not be right one for your body. WHICH IS FINE! Jeans are made in SO many cuts (bootcut, curvy, skinny, mom, cropped, flare, etc) and they aren’t one size fits all – just like bodies. BUT OF COURSE, if you love them, buy them, you’ll rock them no matter what!

Tip #4

RISE MATTERS! But again, this is about what is most comfortable for you. I prefer high waisted because of my hips and tucking in shirts, etc. I am pretty hourglass shaped so someone who has a less curvy shape may be more apt to choose low rise or something else that accentuates their hips, try different styles and see what fits you best!

**** SHORT GIRL (OR REALLY ANY GIRL HACK) ****

Did you know Nordstrom does alterations? And you get so many free a year if you’re a rewards member! Since I’m not buying expensive dresses or other clothing that needs to be altered, I usually use mine on jeans- and pre COVID they were actually pretty quick!
