Obviously our story is a little different than most. . . Caleb and I met in school/CNA class- we were both pre med at the time at ETSU. We had Anatomy together but didn’t really talk to each other until we recognized each other in our CNA night class. Then we would occasionally talk to one another about the different classes but we were both dating other people. Once we were both working at the hospital together- he was in the ER and I was in the NICU we both ended up being single (this was months later- I don’t think we had talked at all during that time). It was Summer by then and Caleb was working and shadowing like crazy and I was going to the beach like every few days lol. Neither of us really wanted to be in a relationship so we stayed in touch as friends. Mid July I had to have surgery on my mouth – which forced me to stay in town for a bit so we started hanging out more and of course then eventually started dating.
Me, having a travel bug, and Caleb NEVER taking time off, we decided to go on a few trips before school started back. We actually talked about eloping (very briefly) – especially since we were both about to be in med school etc it would have been silly to wait longer right? LOL. Fast forward a few months and I was SICK AS A DOG. Caleb was like yeah you’re definitely pregnant (it was our senior year of college and I was like yeah right). Well sure enough- most of you know what happened – LOL Liam! We kept it to ourselves for a while- for a lot of reasons but we finally shared the news with everyone and of course they were excited.
We decided to go to the beach one last time (in March during Spring Break)- we were graduating in May, I was due 2 weeks later, and Caleb would be applying to medical school so it was our last chance. Then one night on the beach Caleb surprised me and proposed! I had 0 IDEA- except when my mom kept being weird that night begging us to go take pictures – keep in mind I was like 6 months pregnant so I was like no thank you. But eventually Caleb convinced me to go for a walk on the beach and he popped the question!
People always ask when we’re getting married- we have no idea. Lol. Between moving, 3 times now, a 2 year old, and now all the virus stuff it has just thrown a wrench in everything. When the time is right we’ll make it happen!
I am in love with these engagement photos. You know dear beach plans are always my favorite and getting engaged by the side of the beach was a nice experience for me too. Even for our wedding day we are going to book one of the private beach side event venues Chicago. Can’t wait for the day.
